Overview:
The Electrical Engineer will report to the Director of Reliability, and work with the VP of Engineering and their team in the development of new solar power inverter products and functionalities. Responsibilities include detailed failure analysis and corrective action for grid-linked solar power inverters. Candidate should be capable, after 1-2 years at this position, of transitioning into an inverter reliability assurance or design role.
The goals and objectives of this position include: inverter failure analysis and root cause determination, corrective action implementation and employ lessons learned from earlier products as well as personal experience, research, and analysis.

Responsibilities:
• Perform analysis of failed inverters using
o Remote data monitoring
o Field testing
o Bench testing
o Analytical and computational modeling where needed
• Determine and document root cause of failures
• Verify and reproduce root causes of failures
• Determine extent of exposure using statistical analysis
• Specify and institute corrective action
• Confirm effectiveness of corrective action in improving product reliability
• Develop a database of failure modes and corrective actions for use by technical service personnel
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering
• At least 2 years of experience in electronic circuit design
• At least 2 years of experience in failure analysis and troubleshooting of electronic products
• Experience with Digital Signal Processors (DSPs)
• Experience with microcontroller-based circuits
• Knowledge or training in basic statistical estimation
• Expert knowledge in use of diagnostic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, and environmental chambers
• Knowledge and experience with formal product development cycles and configuration control
• Computer skills required: Office
• Computer skills desired: LabView, Matlab, C, Assembly Language, Spice
